MEDIA CAMPAIGN A primary goal of the Read It Loud! Savannah campaign is to raise awareness in the Savannah area about the importance and benefits of reading aloud to children. With creative input and talent from Savannah College of Art and Design and production assistance from Savannah’s WJCL TV/FOX 28, Read It Loud! Savannah developed a series of public service announcements (PSAs) – starring Wally Amos, local celebrities and Savannah-area children. Thanks to unprecedented support from our media sponsors, these public service announcements run several times daily on Savannah television and radio. Click here to see one of our Read It Loud! Savannah PSAs.
BOOKS TO BABIES Read It Loud! Savannah launched its BOOKS TO BABIES program on January 1, 2007, at Savannah’s two hospitals – Memorial Health University Medical Center’s Women’s Health Institute and at St. Joseph’s/Candler Mary Telfair Women’s Hospital. Our goal was to provide a book and information package to the mother of every child born in the Savannah area during a one-year period – that was 6,200 during 2007! The program continues in 2008. Click here for more information on BOOKS TO BABIES, plus tips for reading aloud to infants.
BOOKS TO FAMILIES Read It Loud! Savannah’s BOOKS TO FAMILIES partnerships help ensure that families in need can be families that read. The objective of the BOOKS TO FAMILIES program is to build partnerships that match donors of books with selected target groups to put books in the hands of those in need and encourage them to read to their children at home. If you know of a civic, corporate, student or other volunteer group that would like to sponsor a BOOKS TO FAMILIES partnership, please e-mail info@readitloudsavannah.com for more information.
